Who says you need expensive equipment and years of art-school training to make beautiful pictures?
The winners of the 2020 iPhone Photography Awards show that all you really need is a smart phone and a keen eye.
Since the inception of the awards in 2007, the ubiquitous Apple product has come a long way. It is not only able to accommodate augmented-reality technology, it was also used to create a five-hour-long advertisement featuring a labyrinthine tour of Russia’s Hermitage Museum, shot in just one take.
The 13th edition of the award competition brought in thousands of submissions from around the world, which were winnowed down into 18 categories, in addition to the main “Photographer of the Year” group.
Among those categories are ones for animal photographs, portraits, travel pictures, and still lifes.
This year’s Photographer of the Year is Dimpy Bhalotia, a UK-based street photographer who captured a striking image of three boys leaping from a wall into the Ganges River.
