Palestinian artist Khaled Jarrar has had his travel ban lifted by the Israeli Security Agency according to The Art Newspaper.
Jarrar has now arrived in Helsinki and has started preparing his latest project entitled Meet the Artists of To the Square 2, a large-scale performance involving 50 volunteers.
During his latest attempt to leave Palestine the artist successfully managed to cross the Jordanian border where he had been turned away earlier this summer, preventing him from reaching his exhibition opening at the New Museum in New York.
An initial ban until the 1st August was extended until the 1st September, prompting the artist to engage prominent Israeli human rights lawyer Lea Tsmeal to help lift his ban. Jarrar told The Art Newspaper “My art is my weapon against inhumanity and injustice everywhere.”
