Discovered at the age of 14 at an airport, Kate Moss not only became the face of modeling, she defied categorization, becoming a supermodel, entrepreneur, and muse to artists and photographers alike.
In 1992, photographer Stephanie Pfriender Stylander was assigned to do a fashion spread for the Italian edition of Harper’s Bazaar, and she was looking for an “unknown girl that had something special, a lot of character, unusual and more like an actress,” she says on her website. When she saw Moss, she immediately knew she had found her star.
Moss’s brief but passionate affair with enigmatic actor Johnny Depp is the stuff of legend. Decades later, people are still posting the image of the pair holding hands in matching leather jackets with the caption #relationshipgoals to Instagram.
In the photos below, Moss, the scolder of “basic” flight attendants, is forever immortalized. The fashion shoot below is a romantic one, including photos that also feature male model Marcus Schenkenberg, Moss’s photo shoot “boyfriend.” The pictures are shot in various New York city locations—the subway, in a car, outside a diner, and on the West Side highway.
Pfriender has also shot various Hollywood actors and actresses including Jason Statham, Joaquin Phoenix, Nicole Kidman, and the late Heath Ledger.
