What: Performa’s annual fall gala, co-hosted by W magazine editor-in-chief Stefano Tonchi, actress Charlotte Gainsbourg, and artist Francesco Vezzoli.
When: November 4, 2014.
Where: Weylin B. Seymour’s, a former bank in Williamsburg, Brooklyn.
Who: Chef Mario Batali, Dev Hynes of Blood Orange, blogger Pari Ehsan, and Vogue‘s Hamish Bowles. Notable artists in attendance included Marina Abramović, Marilyn Minter, Liz Magic Laser, Mickalene Thomas, and Jayson Musson.
Why: The Renaissance-themed party honored several art world “Renaissance Women,” including Cindy Sherman, Shirin Neshat, and Laurie Simmons. Guests were asked to dress in “21st Century Renaissance” attire, and well, who would want to miss a potential fashion moment like that?
The Moment: The raucous afterparty, which took place in the building’s warehouse-like basement, saw guests getting wild until the wee hours thanks to performances by Hynes and DJ Arp. We spotted everyone from Anthony Haden-Guest to George Condo kicking up their heels.
