The Musée d’Orsay has purchased a portrait of the unknown “Mr Arnauldet” for €50,000 (US$68,833), L’Express reports. Pricey, you might think, but lurking in the background, is a figure that has been identified as Charles Baudelaire, the author of the Les Fleurs du Mal. This is only the 15th known photograph of Baudelaire. The poet was recognized by the photography dealer Serge Plantureux, who donated the rest of the album to the museum.
