Despite evidence to the contrary, New York is not the center of the universe. It might be hogging the headlines a bit at the moment with the return of Chelsea shows, but let’s not overlook some of the other cities unfurling their fall programs. For anyone in Munich, we’ve rounded up a selection of the just-about-to-close and the just-about-about-to-open exhibitions you won’t want to miss: Head over to Galerie Andreas Binder for the study in contrast of its current two-person show, “Dual Tones.” Between Eugene Lemay’s juicy, impasto paintings and Yigal Ozeri’s elegant black-and-white photographs, you’ll find a lot of unexpected similarities. Then, head over to Walter Storms Galerie for its classically Minimalist exhibition of Alan Charlton’s work once it opens on September 9. Or, if slightly goofy but ultimately sincere paintings are more your thing, Galerie Thomas Modern has your back with a solo presentation of the Columbian master Fernando Botero.
