Ever wanted to own a piece by a hot young artist but couldn’t muster the requisite budget? Worried about the lack of ideas regarding your impending Christmas shopping spree? Don’t fret, Studio Voltaire is here to help: the third edition of the pop-up store House of Voltaire, the South London art organization’s biennial fund-raiser, is opening its doors tomorrow in Albemarle Street, in the well-heeled London area of Mayfair.
For this year’s edition, House of Voltaire has commissioned a tantalizing range of artworks, limited edition prints, home-wares, clothing, and accessories by 80 leading contemporary artists and designers, including Cory Arcangel, Linder, Helen Marten, Enrico David, Silke Otto-Knapp, Jeremy Deller, Peter Saville, Pablo Bronstein, Marvin Gaye Chetwynd, Anne Collier, Thea Djordjadze, Subodh Gupta, Magali Reus, Rosemarie Trockel, and Jordan Wolfson.
House of Voltaire has also commissioned a set of special collaborations between artists and fashion designers, including Peter Jensen & Ella Kruglyanskaya, Simone Rocha & Kim Gordon, Roksanda Ilincic & Eva Rothschild, Sibling & Jim Lambie, and Noel Stewart & Alexandre da Cunha.
But, here’s the crucial point: prices range from £1 to £30,000, so there is room for both deep and shallow pockets.
And House of Voltaire has made sure there is yet another extra reason to nip by their pop-up store: their shopkeepers. Familiar faces from the art and fashion world—including Valeria Napoleone, Alice Rawsthorn, and Penny Martin—will tend the tills and wrap up presents for you. Charity and decadence in perfect harmony, we say.
House of Voltaire will take place in 39-40 Albemarle Street, London from November 12–December 20.
