Need help spotting the next Oscar Murillo? CNN International is on the case.

The network’s new monthly series, CNN Ones to Watch, promises to spotlight artists, dancers, architects, classical musicians, and other creatives on the verge of breaking through to greatness and international fame.

The show, which will air globally, claims “to showcase the talent of the future” in “a range of colorful and diverse artistic and cultural fields.” And who, you may ask, is CNN to play tastemaker? The network promises to turn to experts who are “recognized master[s] of their craft” to identify up and coming talent to keep an eye on.

The series will also serve as a primer on the featured creative disciplines, with the avowed masters providing a guide to their art form, describing how the field is changing and offering advice to new talent looking to succeed.

Episode one, which premieres October 10, will hone in on portraiture, going behind the scenes with British artist Jonathan Yeo, who has painted everyone from Malala Yousafzai to Kevin Spacey, as he fulfills a new commission from CNN to paint English National Ballet principal dancer and artistic director Tamara Rojo. Yeo fingers Richard Twose and Jelena Bulajić as portraitists he believes will go far in the field.

CNN Ones to Watch is one of the most extensive and exciting feature shows to appear on CNN International,” said CNN International senior vice president and general manager Mike McCarthy in a press release. “Its broad remit will take viewers on a global journey to explore a diverse mix of arts and culture through the eyes of a true master in their field and give the inside track on who could be tomorrow’s Carlos Acosta, Spike Lee or Rem Koolhaas.”
