Last night, Bon Appétit magazine threw a dinner soiree to celebrate hip fashion designer Pamela Love‘s new line of fine jewels. Featuring cuisine by renowned chef April Bloomfield, the evening took place in an intimate space on the third floor of her buzzed-about West Village eatery, the Spotted Pig.
Creative experience agency Lester was charged with the seemingly impossible task of making the kitsch-filled atmosphere (the restaurant is adorably pig-themed) seem like an elegant and minimal backdrop for delicate jewels and savory bites. A quick visit to the Met provided the inspiration, with Love’s pieces perfectly draped over classical statues and busts that immediately added a lightness to the crowded room.
Among the mix of fashionistas and foodies was photographer Douglas Friedman, designer Mara Hoffman, Bon Appétit editor-in-chief Adam Rapoport, Ally Hilfiger, and somewhat mysteriously, Skrillex, whose arrival generated a healthy buzz among the crowd. Taking a collective breath from the fashion week madness, guests enjoyed a menu that included a mouth-wateringly fresh heirloom tomato salad, herbed quail eggs, and a summer panna cotta with berries for dessert.
