The Pinakothek der Moderne Museum in Munich announced on Tuesday that it has acquired Pablo Picasso’s Femme au Violon (1911) from a private collection on a long term loan, Art Magazin reports.

The painting is regarded as a masterpiece of analytic cubism. The Pinakothek said in a statement that Femme au Violon (1911) is characterized by its, “elegant, vibrant, gray-brown color and radical resolution as well as its geometric composition of figure and instrument.” Picasso reached the, “pinnacle of his non-representational practice with the composition,” the museum added.
