The family and estate of late music legend Prince have announced that the artist’s private estate and production complex, Paisley Park, will open for daily public tours from 6 October, 2016.
Tyka Nelson, Prince’s sister, said that the opening of the 65,000 square-foot complex in Chanhassen, Minnesota, will realize Prince’s long-term vision for the property:
“Opening Paisley Park is something that Prince always wanted to do and was actively working on. Only a few hundred people have had the rare opportunity to tour the estate during his lifetime. Now, fans from around the world will be able to experience Prince’s world for the first time as we open the doors to this incredible place.”
The business strategy submitted to the City of Chanhassen by Estate special administrator Bremer Trust gives an outline of the museum’s plan. Visitors will be guided on a 70 minute tour around Paisley Park’s main floor through the studios where Prince recorded, produced, and mixed the bulk of the records that made him one of the best-selling artists of all time.
Fans will get to see thousands of items from Prince’s personal archives, including his unforgettable wardrobe, numerous awards, musical instruments, artwork, rare recordings, concert memorabilia, cars and motorcycles.
Tours will also visit Prince’s editing suites, rehearsal rooms, his private NPG Music Club, and a huge soundstage and concert venue where he held private events.
“The new Paisley Park museum will offer fans a unique experience, an exhibition like no other, as Prince would have wanted it,” Prince’s siblings said in the statement. “Most important, the museum will display Prince’s genius, honor his legacy, and carry forward his strong sense of family and community.”
Tickets are going on sale today at the Official Paisley Park website from 3 pm EST, for tours starting October 6, 2016. To complement the opening of the museum, a tribute will also be paid to the star in an official family tribute concert in Minneapolis on October 13.
