It was a star-studded night at London’s Serpentine Galleries, which on Tuesday, June 27, hosted its annual summer party to celebrate the 2023 Serpentine Pavilion, designed by French-Lebanese architect Lina Ghotmeh and titled À table.

“We’re delighted to see the return of the legendary Serpentine Summer Party,” Serpentine CEO Bettina Korek and artistic director Hans Ulrich Obrist said in a statement, calling the event “London’s cultural calendar’s apogee.”

Though that may sound a bit over the top, the list of bold-faced names that turned out for the occasion was certainly impressive, featuring a wide range of celebrities, from movie stars and musicians to fashion designers and models.

There were actors Natasha Lyonne, Lena Dunham, Justin Theroux, Andrew Garfield, Minnie Driver, and Russell Tovey. From the fashion world, Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour and models Pixie Geldof and Lori Harvey were there, as well as designers David Koma and Paul Smith, accompanied, respectively, by Diane Kruger and Orlando Bloom sporting their designs.

Other notables included singer Ellie Goulding, novelist Zadie Smith, human rights activist Bianca Jagger, and tennis player Venus Williams, who plays the first round of Wimbledon—which she’s won five times—on Monday.

The night kicked off with a performance by the Aga Khan Music Programme and concluded with a set from DJ Benji B and performance by Major League DJz. Other highlights included limited-edition macarons by Ladurée and an interactive piece by artist Gabriel Massan featuring actors playing their Followers characters from his experimental video game Third World, on view at the Serpentine North.

The evening also marked the debut of a Tomás Saraceno’s new film, Aerocene for Ruinart, part of the champagne house’s “Countdown” series of commissioned works responding to the climate emergency. The Argentine artist is a subject of an exhibition at the museum—his first major U.K. solo show—which opened earlier this month at Serpentine South.
