It’s widely known that lifestyle maven Martha Stewart and rapper Snoop Dogg are buds.
And now, according to a tweet from Stewart, the rapper has given her an original artwork, depicting a canine.
“This is an original Snoop Dogg painting,” she says, “and Snoop gave it to me as a gift! Very nice, don’t you think?” So far, of her 3.3 million followers, nearly 11,000 have liked the tweet, and 4,700 have retweeted it, so many people do seem to think so.
Featuring plenty of white space and executed in a brushy style, the painting shows his namesake animal looking out at the viewer, its big black eyes inexplicably sad, the markings on its chest resembling a pair of big, chunky necklaces.
Their friendship isn’t news. Snoop Dogg has appeared on her show, joining her in the kitchen to bake brownies, where he joked that their recipe was missing the pot. VH1 liked the appearance so much that the network ordered up a whole series, Martha and Snoop’s Dinner Party, at which time Snoop said, “My homegirl Martha and I have a special bond that goes back. We’re gonna be cooking, drinking, and having a good time with our exclusive friends.” She poked fun at him at a roast of Justin Bieber, where, according to comedian Jeff Ross, the drugs were not missing.
Dogs are a mainstay in art history, as revealed by a popular hashtag by a British museum this summer that yielded many adorable and weird depictions of man’s best friend.
And now the rapper has created a new entry into art history. Will it stand the test of time?
