Rapper 50 Cent’s headphone brand SMS Audio has teamed up with Intel on heart rate-monitoring headphones that can track the progress of a workout. It’s a pretty cool concept, but what’s even cooler is how he decided to celebrate. According to Forbes, he held a party in the New Museum’s fabulous Sky Room overlooking the city that featured an art-making machine called the Heart Bot, a machine the creates drawings based on the heart rate of a user.

By placing a hand on the sensor, the machine can read the participant’s heart rate, which is then transmitted to a mechanical arm that traces a pattern onto a piece of paper mounted on the wall.  As described by the creators, “Heart Bot collects heart rate data from a large group of people during a fixed time, at a fixed location and translates it into generative art, demonstrating that each individual experiences a moment in a very personal way.”

The quirky installation was conceptualized for the event by the artist known as Aramique, at the behest of creative agency Sid Lee. Aramique is described in a press release as  the director of Tool, a company that makes interactive art experiences for brands.

According to reports from the event, 50 Cent himself got in on the action, contributing to a final work of collective art that will be donated to the charity organization Feeding America. Not too shabby for the rapper’s first foray into the art sphere.
