On Wednesday night, The Whitney hosted their annual American Art Awards, honoring Dorothy Lichtenstein, The Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts, and The Maramotti Family. The event centered on a chic seated dinner attended by Jeff Koons, Jane Holzer, David Zwirner, and Larry Gagosian. Whitney director Adam Weinberg regaled the audience with an anecdote about a young Roy Lichtenstein who had a table marked with his name at the legendary Meatpacking District restaurant Florent, where the artist was known to hide out.
On Thursday, we took a break from the endless Frieze Week previews to kick off our shoes with a slightly younger set at the Whitney Art Party. Several celebrities, including Emmy Rossum, Nicky Hilton, and Zoe Saldana, were in attendance.
