The doors haven’t even opened yet on the Victoria & Albert Museum’s Alexander McQueen retrospective, “Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty,” and the show is already a blockbuster (see Homecoming: Alexander McQueen’s Savage Beauty Finally Lands in London).

The Telegraph reports that because 30,000 advance tickets have already been sold since April—breaking the museum’s record for advance sales for an exhibition—the V&A has decided to print 50,000 more tickets in anticipation of ongoing demand from the public (see 16,000 Advance Tickets Sold for V&A’s Alexander McQueen Show).

“With just two months to go, we are seeing an unprecedented demand for “Savage Beauty,” but we also wanted to reassure people that there are still tickets available,” said Martin Roth, director of the V&A. “We are committed to providing access to as many as possible during its 20-week run and so pleased to now offer many more opportunities to see this magnificent show in London.”

Online presale tickets are now completely sold out for the first five weekends of the exhibition, though 200 tickets will be available for purchase every day at the museum on a first-come basis.

Will kids be sleeping in line outside the museum, like they do for so many sold-out concerts and H&M designer collaborations? We wouldn’t be surprised.

People who have purchased advance ticket sales have reportedly come from all continents and 57 different countries. The highest number of sales outside the UK has come from the US, despite the fact that the exhibition was first hosted in New York in 2011.
