What the Museum Says: Suter “works in close partnership with the natural environment surrounding her home and studio in Panajachel, Guatemala. The artist’s first Boston exhibition will feature a single installation filling the galleries with a canopy of color and shapes evocative of this lush setting.”

Why It’s Worth a Look: The Argentine-Swiss artist is in the midst of a career renaissance of sorts. Aside from the ICA Boston show, 20 of her paintings are currently installed along New York’s High Line in an outdoor show called “En Plein Air,” and she just closed her first New York solo show at Gladstone Gallery in Chelsea. And all this comes after Suter left society to live in the heart of the Guatemalan rainforest, where the natural environment has come to play an active role in her practice. Rain, mud, light, and plants all figure into her recent work, bringing the colors and textures of her remote home into the museum space.
