Waking the Green Tiger at the Asia Society
Directed by Gary Marcuse, this documentary film follows a grassroots campaign that successfully stopped a major dam project on the upper Yangtze river in China. Told from the varying perspectives of activists, farmers, and journalists, this is a story not to be missed.

Pack a picnic dinner and watch Wes Anderson’s cult hit under the sky in Central Park, as part of the 2014 Central Park Conservancy Film Festival.

Red Bull Studios New York, Living Live: “The Art of the Soundtrack”
Curated by Peter Coffin and Clocktower Radio, the radio program Living Live regularly features musicians, DJs, and interviews on the topics of emerging radio culture, soundtracks, psychedelia, and more. Recorded in front of a live audience, this edition will feature discussions with film score experts, followed by an eclectic selection of tunes.

The 33rd Annual Downtown Dance Festival
Don’t miss the last day of the Downtown Dance Festival held in Robert F Wagner Jr. Park. Beginning on August 17, each evening will feature a selection of performances ranging from classic ballet to postmodern to Indian classical and Afro-Cuban.

Gallery Talk at the Met: Looking at Drawing and Prints
An expert from the Department of Drawings and Prints will take visitors on a guided tour of works from the permanent collection, providing a rare opportunity to expand your knowledge, ask questions, and engage in discussion with others.

Warm Up at MoMA PS1
MoMA PS1’s annual series of outdoor parties is going strong this year. With a host of local and international DJs and musicians spinning all day, bring your friends and get ready to jam on the dance floor. This week’s lineup includes Detroit DJ Kevin Saunderson, Scotland’s Éclair Fifi, and a live set by the West Coast outfit Gifted & Blessed. Cocktails and summer snacks are also available for purchase.
3–9 p.m., doors open at noon. $18 in advance, $20 day of.

Sunday, August 24
A Room of his Own: Looking at Pablo Picasso’s Work From the 1930s and ’40s at MoMA
Join in a rousing conversation about Picasso, with special consideration placed on his works from the 1930s and ’40s. In addition to a round table discussion, visitors will have the chance speak with experts about works in the collection, as well as Picasso’s career and life.
