This weekend, art and ecology lovers around the world will be tuning in online for the third and final year of the Verbier Art Summit. The two-day conference (February 11–12) will center around the theme “Resource Hungry” and will focus on our urgent ecological crisis and its intersections with arts and culture.
The programming is curated in collaboration with a rotating group of museum directors, including Beatrix Ruf, Daniel Birnbaum, Jochen Volz, and Jessica Morgan. This year’s conference, which will encompass live-streamed debates, Q&As, and talks, will focus on new ways forward from the “resource hungry” age, bringing to light concrete examples of actions that art leaders can take to encourage a mutually responsible sensitivity to the environment in the cultural sector.
As this three-year topic concludes, viewers will likewise be able to explore the “Resource Hungry” archive of talks and debates from 2020 and 2021, featuring some 40 leading artists, curators, gallerists, and collectors.
On Friday, programming highlights include “(De)Growth in Times of Climate Crisis” with Beatrix Ruf, Torkwase Dyson, and Louise O. Fresco, followed by “Sustainability in the Digital Age” with Daniel Birnbaum, Simon Denny, and Tobias Rees.
Saturday’s can’t-miss programming includes “Multiple Ecological Truths” with Jochen Volz, Olinda Tupinambá, and Ailton Krenak, as well as “A New Way Forward out of our Resource Hungry Era” with Jessica Morgan and Anneliek Sijbrandij.
Registration is free and currently open to the public.
