In honor of the final month of summer, we’ve chosen ten shows to make you smile. After all, what else is August for? Hong Kong is packed with group shows at Lehmann Maupin, Pearl Lam Gallery, and de Sarthe Gallery, which feature works from big names like Juergen Teller and Yayoi Kusama next to up-and-comers like photographer Erica Lai and painter Zhao Jinhe. In Paris, Iuri Sarmento‘s show at Galerie Agnes Monplaisir mixes Pop Art sensibilities with Baroque motifs to create genre-bending works guaranteed to put a spring in your step. Berlin’s Sprüth Magers boasts a solo show from Anna Vogel, a photographer who paints over sections of her works to create compositions more congruous with memories and dreams than reality. Also in Berlin, Conceptual artists Ceal Floyer and Karin Sander combine voices with a joint show at Esther Schipper. Beijing’s Long March Space features a solo exhibition of works by Guo Fengyi, a visionary Chinese artist, while Tokyo hosts Misa Hiramatsu and Mayumi Tanabe at SCAI the Bathhouse, and Singapore sees Koji Nakazono’s bright and happy works at Tomio Koyama Gallery. Meanwhile, in Los Angeles, Joe Goode shows his sculptural paintings at Kohn Gallery.
