South Asian Modern + Contemporary Art at Christie’s New York

Christie’s Asian Art Week in New York will present a jam-packed series of sales at its Rockefeller Plaza location this September, offering more than 800 lots of Asian art. The South Asian Modern and contemporary art sale spans more than 70 years of Modern and contemporary art in South Asia, including works by V.S. Gaitonde, Tyeb Mehta, Akbar Padamsee, Jehangir Sabavala, Manjit Bawa, and Ganesh Pyne, among many others.

The Chicago-based auction house will offer works from the beloved New York gallery Feature Inc, which closed in 2014. The works were selected by the gallery’s late founder Hudson, one of the most influential and admired dealers of his time. Wright will present more than 100 works, including several at prices under $1,000, by artists such as Tom Friedman and Raymond Pettibon.

Mossgreen presents a dynamic collection of international contemporary art assembled by the prominent British collector Frank Cohen. The auction house worked closely with Cohen to handpick 80 works from his holdings for sale. The offerings include paintings, photography, and installations by some of the world’s most acclaimed contemporary artists, such as Zeng Fanzhi, Lee Ufan, and Fang Lijun.

Indonesian Art Sale at Venduehuis der Notarissen in the Hague, Netherlands

The Venduehuis in the Hague has a long history with Indonesian art. As an administrative center, the Hague maintained extensive relations with Indonesia, which it formerly occupied as the Dutch East Indies. Along with Indonesian paintings, drawings, and watercolors, the auction also includes sculpture, silver, colonial furniture, and tribal art.
