Tuesday, November 4
SculptureCenter Annual Benefit Gala
The hip, Long Island City-based institution’s benefit gala promises an evening of dinner, drinks, and dancing at the historic Edison Ballroom. A special installation by Radamés “Juni” Figueroa, a performance by Gobby, and a photobooth by Win McCarthy help sweeten the pot.
6:30 PM, Tickets $1,000+. Afterparty 9 PM, Tickets $75.

Performa’s Paradiso: A Tribute to the Renaissance
If performance art is more your thing, join Performa for its annual benefit, held this year inside a former bank in Williamsburg. The Renaissance-themed party will feature a “food performance” by Jennifer Rubell, as well as a tribute to several modern day “Renaissance women” in the arts. The only trick is to find thematic attire that’s more “night on the town” than “Ren-Faire reject”.
6 PM, Tickets $1,500. Afterparty 9PM, Tickets $150.

Wednesday, November 5
The Guggenheim International Gala Pre-Party
This year’s GIG pre-party is shaping up to be the hottest event in town (pre-parties are the new afterparties—you heard it here first). Boasting a performance by The xx, the event is already sold out. But surely there’s a way to pull some strings, right?
9 PM. Tickets $250.

The Art of Compassion at Freight + Volume
Should gaining access to the Guggenheim not pan out, go out for a good cause instead. Freight + Volume is holding a curated auction to benefit Mercy for Animals. Featured artists include Ross Bleckner, Katherine Bradford, and our new favorite musician-turned-artist Moby.
6–9 PM. Tickets $100.

Thursday, November 6
High Line Art Presents “Pier 54” Opening Reception
Enjoy the fall weather by celebrating the opening of this exciting exhibition on the High Line. Both a tribute to and a reaction against the legendary, and unfortunately all-male, 1971 exhibition “Pier 18,” this show will feature work by 27 contemporary female artists, including Liz Magic Laser, Marianne Vitale, and Virginia Overton.
6–8 PM. Free and open to the public.

Friday, November 7
Exposed: Songs for Unseen Warhol Films at BAM
Fans of Pop, film, and the provocative won’t want to miss these 15 never-before-seen Warhol shorts. Curated by the Andy Warhol Museum, five musical artists including Eleanor Friedberger of the Fiery Furnaces and Bradford Cox of Deerhunter will perform alongside the films. Keep your eyes peeled for glimpses of Marcel Duchamp, Edie Sedgwick, and even Andy himself.
7:30 PM. Tickets $20.

Saturday, November 8
Pratt Institute MFA Open Studios
Looking to stake out the art stars of tomorrow? See them before they hit the gallery walls at Pratt’s MFA open studio day. Over 100 young artists in a variety of genres are opening their doors all day, with performances happening in the evening.
11 AM–7 PM. Performances at 7 PM. Free and open to the public.
