Hotly anticipated annual art event Bushwick Open Studios (BOS) is postponing its 2016 iteration from June to October, Bushwick Daily reports. The event, which has for the past several years taken place on the first weekend of June, encompasses a mix of over 500 open artist studios, gallery openings, performances, parties, and even an art fair.

BOS began in 2006 but has swelled to epic proportions within the past five years, with some locals complaining it’s turned into “an enormous frat party.”

“Bushwick Open Studios was held in the fall in its earliest iterations and we are looking to rekindle that spirit,” organizers said in an official statement obtained by artnet News. “The annual open studios weekend has been very successful in drawing people to our community, and we believe adding lead time this year will allow for more voices in the community to be heard and have an impact on planning and production.”

The event is produced by Arts in Bushwick, an all-volunteer organization that also works on various arts-related community projects throughout the year. Arts in Bushwick experienced significant turnover this year as four members who had been contributing to BOS since 2012—Lucia Rollow, Samantha Katz, Lauren Smith, and Willow Goldstein—severed ties with the organization.

Arts in Bushwick will hold a town hall meeting on March 30 to hear community suggestions and encourage new members to join.

The organization declined to comment further on the matter.
