The 70 identified artworks stolen recently from the National Museum of Fine Arts of Havana are worth close to $1.5 million. The estimate comes from Miami dealer Ramón Cernuda, who discovered the theft in February when he realized that a recently purchased Eduardo Abela painting, worth US$15,000, belonged to the Cuban museum. The paintings were cut from their frames while being stored in a museum warehouse.
