It’s hard to believe that EXPO Chicago will hold its fifth edition this September. The fair, which has grown steadily since its 2012 debut, announced today that it has tapped Diana Nawi, associate curator of the Pérez Art Museum Miami (PAMM), to curate its popular IN/SITU sector, which brings large-scale installations and site specific works to the fair on Navy Pier and the surrounding area.

Past editions of IN/SITU have been organized by curators such as Shamim M. Momin, director of the Los Angeles Nomadic Division, in 2013, and Contemporary Austin executive director Louis Grachos in 2015.

Highlights of the most recent edition included Daniel Buren‘s From three windows, 5 colours for 252 places, in which rows of jewel-toned stained-glass windows were suspended above the exhibition hall.

Nawi’s work at PAMM has included commissioning new work from artists such Nicole Cherubini and Yael Bartana, and curating the current mid-career survey “Nari Ward: Sun Splashed,” on view through February 21.

In her new role, Nawi plans to “realize ambitious new artworks that will bring thought-provoking conversations to EXPO Chicago,” and “will highlight the vibrancy of the city,” she said in a statement.

EXPO Chicago has also named Daria de Beauvais, curator at Paris’s Palais de Tokyo, as curator of EXPO Video. Drawing from work held by the fair’s exhibitors, de Beauvais will present a selection of video, film, and new media works in a number of different viewing formats. Studio Gang Architects will construct a number of viewing stations throughout the fair to complement two large-format screening rooms.

EXPO Chicago will be on view at Chicago’s Navy Pier, September 22–25, 2016.
