The third Hong Kong Art Gallery Week is to return for its third iteration this November 1 – 7 with a city-wide public program of talks, tours, exhibitions, and events presented by 50 member galleries.

Much like its first two editions of Hong Kong Art Gallery Week, this year’s edition will seek to further cement the city as a cultural hub—setting its focus on regional galleries in the context of wider Asia.

“Hong Kong has emerged as a centre for art in Asia in the past years,” Katie de Tilly, co-president of the Hong Kong Art Gallery Association, said in a statement. “Hong Kong Art Gallery week aims to explore and reflect on the city’s rapidly developing art scene in the context of the region, and to exchange ideas and inspire conversations around these themes.”

Members of the association range from big-name blue-chip dealers like Gagosian, Pace, and Lehmann Maupin to smaller local dealers such as Hong Kong’s Gallery Exit and Pekin Fine Arts, who also has a space in Beijing. Although most programs won’t be confirmed until the fall, Pekin Fine Arts, which is run by Meg Maggio, will be showing a young Chinese artist, Xu Zhenbang (born in 1990).

Traditionally, galleries have clustered in Central and Sheung Wan, but due to a burgeoning art scene, in part thanks to Art Basel in Hong Kong, galleries have popped up in other artsy neighborhoods including Wong Chuk Hang and other industrial areas.
