This week, we’re heading across the pond, where the UK’s largest city is gearing up for Masterpiece London. In anticipation of this event, we are providing you with a list of must-see shows to jump-start your art itinerary. A few highlights from this month’s gallery exhibitions include photographs by Ruud van Empel at Beetles and Huxley, marking the artist’s debut in London. Or else check out Philip Guston, whose characteristically cartoonish works are on view at Timothy Taylor. A few galleries are doubling up on exhibitions, with Simon Lee presenting solo works by Sherrie Levine, as well as a series of sculptures and works on paper by Japanese artists affiliated with the Mono-ha (School of Things), including Koji Enokura, Noriyuki Haraguchi, Tatsuo Kawaguchi, and Noboru Takayama. At Lisson Gallery, solo shows by Brazilian sculptor Sergio Camargo and mixed-media artist Shirazeh Houshiary are on display. For museum-lovers, don’t miss Agnes Martin at the Tate Modern. This broad-ranging exhibition covers Martin’s early experiments with different media, and follows her development from biomorphic abstraction to her trademark grid and striped canvases. Also at the Tate Modern is the acclaimed “EY Exhibition,” by celebrated modern artist Sonia Delaunay.

From seasoned collectors to art novices, London’s cultural scene offers something for everyone.
