Blizzard, snow storm, and icy rain are words you might be tired of hearing. While February has brought some of the worst weather on record to much of the country, it’s time to take a break and enjoy the sun of South Florida. Like any art aficionado, you don’t want to miss Art Wynwood, taking place in Midtown Miami, February 12 through 16, and featuring 70 international galleries. Home of the world’s largest exhibition, Art Basel Miami, South Florida, and Miami in particular, offers a variety of exciting exhibitions alongside Art Wynwood.

Start your journey in the Miami Design District at Markowicz Fine Art, which is presenting new sculptures in the highly anticipated exhibition of French artist Alain Godon. In the same area, stop by the Pérez Art Museum Miami to admire Fly’s Eye Dome, a 24-foot installation by Buckminster Fuller, and prototype of the artist’s original design for an off-the-grid temporary dwelling featured at Design Miami in 2011. Continue your tour at Sammer Gallery Miami to discover works on paper by the American-Israeli artist Jacob El Hanani. If you ever wondered what to do with stickers, head toward ART LEXÏNG and the Dazzling World of Ye Hongxing to explore his new artworks. Then, be sure to visit Now Contemporary Art to enjoy the group exhibition Obsessive Creative Disorder.

If you want to explore cities outside Miami, we’ve got you covered! Rosenbaum Contemporary, located in Boca Raton, a City for All Seasons, has on display a retrospective of Mira Lehr, a multimedia artist whose work encompasses painting, design, sculpture, and video installations. Fort Lauderdale will delight all kinds of art lovers with the exhibition Masters: Modern and Contemporary at New River Fine Art; Marc Chagall, Pablo Picasso, and Alexander Calder are all featured. Visit Coral Gables and spend some time at ArtSpace/Virginia Miller Galleries, where you will have the opportunity to see a number of major works by Leon Berkowitz, one of the leaders of the Washington Color School.

As you can see, there’s always a good reason to visit South Florida; bienvenido a Miami!
