Inside NADA New York 2014.

We know, we know—Armory Week literally just ended (and Art Basel in Miami Beach remains a not-so-distant memory). But it’s time to go ahead and start bracing yourself for the similarly crazy experience of Frieze Week, which is a mere two months away. To get you in the spirit, NADA New York has released its list of 2015 exhibitors. The fair will once again take place at Pier 36 and run from May 14–17, 2015.

Both the Miami and New York iterations of the fair are thought of as havens for gritty art by and for “cool kids,” whatever that means (see NADA Miami Beach 2014 Will Be the Anti-Art Basel and NADA Art Fair Is the Most Fun You’ll Have In Miami). Critic Ben Davis, writing about last year’s New York edition, described the fair as “where you go for things that aren’t known quantities but that nevertheless look contemporary-cool…[it] has been a good barometer of what the present’s consensus “good taste” looks like (see Finding Something at NADA New York).”

So which galleries fit the bill for “contemporary cool” this year? Hipster staples like Eleven Rivington, The Hole, Regina Rex, and Shoot the Lobster, along with plenty of unknown entities from cities including Baltimore, Portland, Kansas City, San Juan, and even a couple of the cooler East Hampton galleries thrown in for good measure. And so it begins.
