Art Miami has announced the lineup of galleries for the inaugural edition of its new art fair, Art Silicon Valley/San Francisco. It will be the organization’s first West Coast fair, and will be held on October 9–12. Centrally located in San Mateo, between San Francisco and Silicon Valley, Art SV/SF will feature 75 galleries from around the world, including participants from Italy, France, Germany, England, the Netherlands, South Korea, Switzerland, and Venezuela.

Several of the weekend’s highlights are geared to engage the area’s tech-savvy population, a growing and under-served community of potential art collectors already targeted by another new fair in the spring (see “Who’s Bringing What? How Dealers Will Tempt Techies at Silicon Valley Contemporary“). ZERO1, a San Jose non-profit, will mount an installation by John Slepian, in which the artist is completely levitated through the power of his mind using a hacked toy brainwave sensor, electronics, and powerful actuators. Meanwhile, the tech/art collective Leaders in Software Art will curate a selection of rising stars from the New York tech art community that will be sprinkled in booths throughout the fair.

For those in search of more traditional fare, a special exhibition of Banksy works from his storied October 2013 New York residency will be on display, sponsored by I PXL U, the official photo sharing platform for Art SV/SF. There will also be a diverse array of artist talks, site-specific projects, interactive pieces, and events throughout the weekend.
