Philip Mould & Co. is moving from its current location on Dover Street. The London-based British art and Old Masters gallery will relocate to a new three-storied space in Pall Mall.

As the fashion industry gradually began to dominate London’s Dover Street, the gallery has decided to relocate to an area more closely associated with fine art. The gallery’s new address is in the vicinity of the National Gallery and St. James’s Palace.

In addition to the main viewing gallery the new space will include a so-called “cabinet room” designed to house portrait miniatures, and an entire floor dedicated to early 20th-century artworks. The spacious venue will also host a research library, an area for educational talks, and a media center.

The space is designed by the interior designer Edward Bulmer, who specializes in repurposing historic buildings and has worked on the retail locations of the Harvey Nicholls department store.

On the decision to show Old Masters in a state-of-the-art environment, Philip Mould, who also works as a journalist and broadcaster, stated: “We will be creating a stimulating space using new technology, including media installations, juxtaposed with contemporary and classic architectural detailing—I felt it was time to risk putting a spring in the step of old master presentation.”

Edward Bulmer added, “The new gallery will be a serious viewing space but without the need to be over-imposing. We are concentrating on rendering interiors in the tradition of the great public galleries and private houses but without the need for historic trim or superfluous detail.”
