The second edition of Art Basel’s newest fair, Paris+ has officially wrapped, and collectors, journalists, and dealers are back at home recuperating after a whirlwind double-header of major art fairs. While the proximity of Frieze London and Paris+ had some drawbacks, including forcing some visitors to decide between one or the other, and keeping others on a breakneck schedule, it’s helpful to have the results of two bellwethers for the art market land back-to-back for comparison’s sake.
Both anecdotal evidence from on-the-ground reports at the fairs as well as the volume of reported sales indicates that Paris+ was the more successful of the two from the dealers’ perspective, with significantly more seven-figure artworks sold, and more artworks sold, period. The outing was so impressive, in fact, that it was drawing comparisons not to FIAC or Frieze London, but to its own sister fair, Art Basel’s flagship event in Switzerland.
Below, see a list of prices from galleries at the sophomore edition of Paris+, with all prices converted to USD for ease of reading.
