The exhibitor list is out for the 11th edition of PULSE New York, with an international slate of galleries hailing from four continents.
Having settled back into Armory Week after a few May editions, PULSE will once again present a number of solo artist booths, each eligible for the PULSE prize cash grant. Winners will be selected by a jury that includes artnet News contributor Anthony Haden-Guest.
PULSE Points will present work from alternative spaces, nonprofits, and first-time exhibitors, while a number of galleries will curate two-artist shows for Conversations, a special focus introduced at the fair’s last Miami Beach edition.
It’s a slightly smaller fair than last year, with only 45 galleries on tap, as compared to 51 in 2015. However, there’s a few noteworthy new additions via five first-time exhibitors: Honey Ramka, Brooklyn; Galerie Italienne, Paris; Laffy Maffei, Paris; Christopher Moller, Cape Town, South Africa; and Galleri Urbane, Marfa, Texas.
PULSE also has a dramatically different line-up from last year: Nearly half of the 2015 roster is sitting this year out, including New York’s LMAKprojects; Project ArtBeat of Tbilisi, Georgia; and Vienna’s Galerie Frey.
“We just moved to a bigger space, so we’re focusing on our new endeavor,” LMAK owner Bart Keijsers Koning told artnet News in a phone call. Having gone from just 400 square feet to to 2,500, there is plenty for the gallery to work on in lieu of another lap on the hectic art fair circuit.
