Rodeo, one of Istanbul’s most renowned contemporary art galleries, has announced the launch of a London branch, which will open during Frieze Week in October.

The gallery will be located in Charing Cross Road, a major thoroughfare in Central London, which gathers some of the city’s best bookshops. Charing Cross Road is also on the edge of Soho, a once-seedy area which is rapidly becoming a hotbed for contemporary art, attracting galleries that include heavy-weights like Sadie Coles and Marian Goodman, as well as younger galleries like Herald St (“Herald St Gallery Pops Up in London’s Soho”). Both Marian Goodman and Herald St have also chosen to open their new premises during Frieze Week.

The forthcoming London branch confirms Rodeo’s international success. Artists represented by the gallery include two of the four Turner Prize 2014 nominees: Duncan Campbell and James Richards.

The gallery will inaugurate the space with two solo exhibitions by the artists Banu Cennetoğlu and Tamara Henderson. Canadian-born Henderson will also participate in Frieze Art Fair as part of its “Live” program, focused on performance-based installations. Henderson’s project, an immersive environment entitled Resorting, will combine sculptural furniture, film, a sound piece, and a working bar that fair visitors will be invited use.
