Take a peek into the life of auctioneer, collector, and artnet News columnist Simon de Pury. Via his Instagram, he will be sharing a bit of glamour and a bit of excitement with us each week—whether he’s trotting the globe or on the scene closer to home.

Last week, we left Simon in Los Angeles, and he has since continued to enjoy sun, sights, and, of course, art. He took a moment to snap an #LASelfie abstracted by three perforated neon panels. Can you spot his reflection (with palm tree) peeking out from underneath them? He shared his appreciation for a mural by local street artist Binho Ribeiro, which depicts an intimidating gorilla, a hungry dinosaur, and a very scared looking owl. He then took a break from street art to see a group show at Cherry and Martin, where he homed in on a piece by Michael Rey. He later visited The Mistake Room, a nonprofit institution for contemporary art, where he shared a mystifying glimpse of a work by buzzed-about artist Korakrit Arunanondchai. Simon only rested in his hunt for the coolest art in town when he stopped for just a moment to declare his anticipation of the final season of HBO’s Boardwalk Empire—via a snapshot of a billboard—and reflected upon the simple pleasure of beholding colorful 25 cent gumballs.
