Paris’s Galerie Nathalie Obadia has announced that it added the French, UK-based video artist Laure Prouvost to its roster. The gallery gave Prouvost her first solo show in her native country last year.

Prouvost studied in London, earning her BA from Central Saint Martins in 2002, and her MA from Goldsmiths College in 2010. In 2013 she was awarded the Turner Prize, and has had great international success since then.

Her idiosyncratic mix of video and installation has been exhibited in several major institutions, in a string of solo shows including For Forgetting at the New Museum, New York in 2014; From Wantee to Some Signs at Extra City Kunsthal in Anvers in 2014; and at London’s Whitechapel Gallery and Tate Britain where she presented her solo show Schwitters in Britain.

“I discovered Laure Prouvost’s work for the first time at Frieze 2010, and was convinced right away of her originality,” dealer Nathalie Obadia told artnet News. “It is at the same time very complex on the formal level, within the integration of sounds and images and the paintings and writing in her installations, and I enjoy very much the dadaist narrative side of her fictional stories.”

“I am very honored to accompany Laure Prouvost in her artistic adventure,” she added. “She’s a very hardworking artist, always looking for new ways and possibilities. She’s also very at ease within an international context, where she is confronted with the best artists of her generation, yet always remarked for the originality of her work.”
