The Limoncello Gallery, London has announced that Welsh artist Bedwyr Williams will be joining its stable.

Williams’s practice incorporates a wide range of different media including sculpture, installation, drawing, video, and photography. His art analyzes his own biography and explores the themes of the absurdity of the human condition and contemporary existence interspersed with a witty sense of humor and irony.

A substantial part of the artist’s work investigates the customs and culture of the artist’s native Wales. He is also interested in his own position in time and his personal relationship with the past, the present, and the future. Williams says his curiosity lies in “average people in oversized situations, and vice versa.”

William’s work has been exhibited in numerous important domestic and international exhibitions, including the 2013 Venice Biennial and solo shows at Tramway for a Glasgow International commission, the Salzburger Kunstverein, and Ikon Birmingham.

Rebecca May Marston, Director of the Limoncello Gallery told artnet News in an email, “Bedwyr’s work is maverick; his hefty wit is matched in his aesthetic eccentricity. He’s a brave artist; he practices independent of much art production, which means he has an uncannily unique voice.”

She added, “He is an outstandingly talented artist who was unrepresented. Madness. He has an incredible exhibition, performance and residency history.”
