Beloved Berlin Photo Museum to Reopen

Beloved photo institution C/O Berlin has set its reopening date for October 30th. The museum was forced to close its doors starting in March 2013 after the building in which it had long been housed, the Postfuhramt in Berlin Mitte, was purchased by a real estate development firm. The building is in process of being converted into luxury apartments.

Beginning in October, C/O Berlin will be housed in the Amerika Haus. Since leaving the Postfuhramt, it has been renovating the building, which sits in the west of the city next to the Zoologischergarten train station. The building was constructed following World War II in order to provide West Berliners the opportunity to learn about American culture and politics. One of the institution’s opening exhibitions of works by American Will McBride will hark back to that history, McBride having been the first artist to show in the building way back in 1957.
