The seventh sign in the zodiac calendar, Libra is represented by a celestial set of scales often carried by a woman. Those born under this sign (September 23—October 23) thrive in collaboration with others and are extroverted, peace-loving compromisers. Libras in the art world are friendly with all the different cliques.
Libras make excellent curators, as they’re excellent at balancing competing interests and expectations. Collectors who are Libras will choose works that form a comprehensive and cohesive vision—no one-off purchases here! They’ll also want to support artists beyond finances alone. Libra artists, meanwhile, are known to be a bit moody when ideals and reality don’t meet. Famous artists who were Libras include Meret Oppenheim, Mark Rothko, and Caravaggio.
To celebrate Libra season, we’ve explored the Artnet Gallery Network to find works that celebrate the intelligence, balanced wit, and charm that define this zodiac sign.
