Dresden not exactly on your spring travel list? No problem. The nine museums that make up the Staatliche Kunstsammlungen Dresden (SKD) can now be visited digitally via 360° panoramic tours on the Dresden museum system’s website. The SKD started the effort in 2011, digitizing four of the museums’ collections, a total of 35,000 works of art and antiquities.
Now, 30 of the museums’ exhibition rooms join, bringing the world-famous buildings’ architecture into play. The experience is highly interactive: clicking on symbols placed within the tours provides information (in German and English) on the wide-ranging collection’s rooms and objects.
