Police in Memphis, Tennessee were called to an unusual crime scene at the Museum of Rock N’ Soul on Tuesday night after a pair of heart-shaped sunglasses belonging to Sir Elton John went missing, WREG reports.

Officers arrived at the museum shortly after 8 PM and told local news sources that they were responding to a report of a theft.

According to WMC Action News 5, the glasses were worn by the legendary British singer in the 1970s, and were part of an exhibition of memorabilia celebrating the 60th anniversary of Rock N’ Roll.

The exhibition also featured items belonging to Bruce Springsteen, Whitney Houston, and Isaac Hayes among others.

Memphis Police have not released any further information about the case or potential suspects.

According the the Daily Mail Sir Elton John has previously admitted to owning over 250,000 pairs of glasses, so its unlikely that the 67-year-old singer and songwriter will be squinting in the spring sunshine anytime soon.

In 2010 Elton told BBC Radio “I don’t have an iPod or a mobile phone or a computer. I do have a quarter of a million pairs of glasses.”

In 2013 Elton’s glasses made headlines once more when he found himself having to deny reports that he hired a second hotel room just to store his vast collection of shades.
