Graham Fagen will represent Scotland at the next Venice Biennale, the Herald Scotland reported. Hospitalfield Arts of Arbroath will curate the exhibition, which will run from May 9–November 22, 2015, at a yet-to-be-announced venue.

Fagen is a heavyweight of the Scottish art scene, known for his eclectic practice mixing performance, video, and sculpture. A graduate from the prestigious Glasgow School of Art, he toured Kosovo as an Official War Artist under the aegis of the Imperial War Museum in 1999.

This won’t be Fagen’s debut in Venice. In 2003, he was included in Zenomap, the first modern Scottish show at the Biennale.

“The Biennale is one of the most important events in the international calendar for the visual arts,” the artist commented. “I hope that I can do justice to its history and Scotland’s participation in it.”
