At Hauser & Wirth, Rachel Khedoori Unsettles L.A.

THE DAILY PIC: Her photos show a home, and also what gets revealed in its windows.

THE DAILY PIC (#1417): Usually, photos of our cityscapes are meant to locate you in a place. In today’s Pic, sampled from Rachel Khedoori’s show at Hauser & Wirth in New York, we end up in two places at once: In front of a tidy middle-class home in Los Angeles while also looking at the other side of the street, as reflected in that home’s fenestration. In her best shots – she always presents them in foursomes – Khedoori manages a gorgeous balance between facade (here) and reflection (there). Her photos unsettle an architecture that’s all about stability. (Copyright Rachel Khedoori, courtesy the artist and Hauser & Wirth)
