Authorities confirmed that a body retrieved from the Hudson River on Monday near Poughkeepsie is that of 32-year old Ian Jones, the boyfriend of artist and model Tali Lennox (also known as Tali Fruchtmann) who went missing after their kayak overturned, according to the New York Times and a Dutchess County sheriff’s office release.
The cause of death was drowning.
Lennox, who is the daughter of pop singer and former Eurythmics member Annie Lennox and film producer Uri Fruchtmann, was rescued by a passing boat after about 20 minutes in the water. Neither Lennox nor Jones was wearing a life vest.
In an Instagram post on August 10, Lennox wrote: “My heart is shattered. My best friend, my soul mate, my partner in crime & creativity, the LOVE & LIGHT of my life is no longer with me. All the love that has been sent to me is giving me the strength to get through this. I know that he is so so happy that I was safely rescued. Let us honor & celebrate this beautiful soul & keep following the light.”
Jones was a photographer and model who appeared on the cover issue of L’Officiel Hommes magazine, and walked in the Berluti runway show in Paris this past June.
Jones and Lennox collaborated on portraits of homeless young people, a series they called “Street Kids,” featuring those who they met on the streets of the East Village, the Times reported. Fashion magazine Grey published a portfolio of Jones’ photos from the series last fall. Earlier this year Teen Vogue profiled Lennox and Jones as artists on the rise.
This past spring, Lennox had her first solo show at Catherine Ahnell Gallery in Soho.
