Interview with Wang Qingsong

VIDEO: Wang Qingsong discusses his past work and future projects.

 

In conversation with Heather Russell, artnet’s senior specialist in Asian Modern and Contemporary Art for artnet Auctions, Chinese Contemporary artist Wang Qingsong (b.1966) shared stories about his artistic work, and discussed some of his most well-known pieces. Wang is one of the most renowned Contemporary Chinese photographers and multi-media artists, and has shown his work around the world to international acclaim. Wang’s works focus on featuring social change from a journalist’s point of view.

Selected as one of the three artists to represent China in the China National Pavilion at this year’s 55th Venice Biennale, Wang studied at the Sichuan Academy of Art, first as a painter, and then as a photographer beginning in 1996. Wang is planning to work on a new project this summer, and is preparing for his first movie, which starts shooting in November. Watch the video to learn more about the artist.
