The city of Genoa, Italy, is returning to Ecuador about 4,858 archaeological artifacts illegally imported to Italy between the 1960s and the 1970s, Ecuador News Magazine reports. Twenty two of these objects were delivered by the Mayor of Genoa, Marco Doria, to the Ecuadorian president Rafael Correa during a visit to the city. Ecuador’s minister of knowledge and human talent Guillaume Long was quoted in the Quotiden de l’Art praising the exemplary nature of the restitution.
