German Artist Jan Kuck’s Neon Sculptures Are Lighting Up Berlin—See His Prismatic Works Here

Berlin-based artist Jan Kuck (b. 1978) creates conceptional and performance-based public artworks across sculpture, installation, video, performance, and design. His works are rooted in studies of philosophy and history and attempt to transform concepts into experiential and immersive artworks. 

Kuck has been represented by Berlin’s Bernheimer Contemporary since 2014. During quarantine in 2021, in collaboration with the gallery, he was a featured artist in DesignWalk.Art, an outdoor series of installations across four German cities. Several of Kuck’s neon sculptures were presented outdoors in Passau, for art lovers to enjoy while social distancing. 

During Berlin Art Week, the artist will have several works on view. Through November, Kuck’s hit neon sculpture Time Matters (Pink) will be installed on the facade of the Malte Uekermann Kunsthandel, in the middle of Charlottenburg. Earlier this year, the sculpture was displayed at Berlin’s Schloss Bellevue during the annual Citizens’ Festival, where it was accessible to thousands of people. The sculpture has previously been realized publicly in Munich, Düsseldorf, and Genova. 

Within the Malte Uekermann Kunsthandel, and through Berlin Gallery Week, the artist will have three additional sculptures on view in his solo exhibition “Time Matters” also at the  Malte Uekermann Kunsthandel. Here, fans of Kuck’s work will be able to see his works Who Cares Diversity? (2022), What Would You Change? (2022), and Burn (2022).
