The 255-year-old company Faber-Castell has counted such masters as Vincent van Gogh and Paul Klee among its many customers. Now, it is unveiling its new limited-edition KARLBOX, a collaboration with renowned Chanel fashion designer, illustrator, and all-around icon Karl Lagerfeld. This may just be the most stylish set of art supplies ever.

The well-ordered selection of colors and materials is being offered for a cool $2,850, and features the designer’s famous silhouette.

“To me, drawing is like breathing and writing. These are the things that almost relax me,” said the designer in a statement. The set, with a September release date, is just in time for the back-to-school season (and fall fashion weeks).

The new kit has been designed to resemble a Chinese wedding chest, with art supplies separated into black-lacquered drawers for each color, which are labeled in German, English, and French. All together, it features 350 drawing instruments, including markers, pens, pastels, crayons, and colored pencils, as well as sharpeners and erasers.

Only 2,500 are available for sale, and each is numbered and accompanied by a certificate of authenticity.

The sets are available at Faber-Castell stores, Karl Lagerfeld boutiques, and Harrods in London, with other select department and specialty stores set to begin selling it September 19.
