Klaus Biesenbach Hosts Famous Friends at PS1 Gala
His cool-kid cadre was out in full force, but no sign of Franco.

It’s no secret that MoMA PS1 director and man-about-town Klaus Biesenbach has a lot of famous friends—just check out his Instagram account, brimming with selfies alongside James Franco and Marina Abramović—but the guest list at the Moma PS1 Gala served as a confirmation of this fact. Of course, it comes as no surprise that cool kids of both art and non-art persuasions would come out to support the ultimate cool kid of the New York museum scene. While notables like Salman Rushdie, Patti Smith, and Michael Stipe celebrated, Franco himself was conspicuously absent. But, never fear, he will be at PS1’s Rockaway! opening celebration on Sunday—giving a poetry reading, no less.
