Liste Art Fair Basel returns next week to its home in Hall 1.1 at Messe Basel, set to welcome 91 galleries—23 of which are first time exhibitors—hailing from 35 countries. Taking place June 10–16, 2024, the fair will also host a number of special guests, including House of Electronic Arts, which will have its own booth, and curator Elise Lammer, who has organized a performance program taking place over the course of the fair.

Liste Art Fair Basel Co-founder Peter Bläuer—who has managed Liste for more than two decades—has stepped in this year as interim artistic director. Commenting on the fair, he said, “Almost every young gallery still applies to Liste and wants to be part of this important platform in Basel. This year, we are once again able to present the most promising new galleries and their artists to an international audience of experts. It makes me very happy to once again work with Stiftung Liste Basel on this important task of helping to promote a future generation of galleries. What could be better than supporting and helping? So, dear experts! Take a good look! There is a lot to discover again this year.”

While many visitors may seek out returning favorites, new exhibitors at the fair like Lagos’s Rele Gallery, London’s Rose Easton Gallery, and Stockholm’s Coulisse Gallery all promise to bring a new dynamic element to the fair, and ensure a broad and diverse selection of art and artists will be on view.

Ahead of the fair, a couple of key themes have emerged within the participating gallery presentations, including a focus by artists on the intricate and multifaceted relationship humans maintain with their environment and lived context. Beyond this, ideas around time, memory, and transience are brought to the fore through various mediums and modes. Together, the works on view speak to the present zeitgeist and pervasive social and cultural concerns.

These themes and more are covered in the range of guided tours that will be offered, which are not-to-be-missed events as they let viewers delve into the presentations and artworks comprehensively.

As the art world once again descends on the city of Basel, Liste Art Fair Basel maintains its position as a must-see fair of the season, and an approachable event to explore and discover some of the most innovative and of-the-moment artworks.

Liste Art Fair Basel will be held June 10–16, 2024, at Messe Basel, Hall 1.1.
